Strengthening Gender-Responsive and Climate-Resilient Workplaces in the RMG Sector
On 19 August 2026, a Validation Workshop on “Gender & Climate Lens Policy Analysis in the RMG Sector and Development of a Supervisory Mentoring Toolkit” was held under the , implemented by CARE Bangladesh in collaboration with . The workshop brought together gender, climate, and RMG sector experts, alongside representatives from BGMEA, to validate the study findings and strengthen the proposed mentoring toolkit.
The study examines how workplace policies, supervisory practices, and factory-floor realities influence worker wellbeing, productivity, inclusion, and resilience. Building on these findings, a practical Supervisory Mentoring Toolkit is being developed to help supervisors and factory management translate policy commitments into meaningful day-to-day practices.
The study generated key findings across three interconnected dimensions. The Gender Lens explored barriers to women’s leadership, family support dynamics, and workplace perceptions. The Climate & Environmental Lens examined the impacts of heat stress, thermal comfort, and PPE usability on the production floor. The Institutional Lens focused on bridging the gap between workplace policies—including grievance mechanisms, childcare provisions, and occupational safety and health standards—and their implementation in everyday factory operations.
Through interactive group discussions and validation exercises, participants shared practical insights and recommendations to ensure the toolkit is relevant, feasible, and responsive to factory-floor realities.
The recommendations from the workshop will inform the final Supervisory Mentoring Toolkit, strengthening supervisors’ capacity to foster more inclusive, healthy, and climate-resilient workplaces. This initiative reflects our shared commitment to advancing worker wellbeing, gender equality, climate resilience, and sustainable workforce development in Bangladesh’s RMG sector.
