Integral Global, in partnership with AYAT Education and BGMEA, is dedicated to enhancing wellness and productivity among garment workers while preventing respiratory illnesses. Supported by the John C. Martin Foundation, our initiative aims to establish sustainable ‘Good Practice Models’ for the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector.
Demonstrate initiative’s general applicability within the textile sector.
Create consensus within the industry leader community around the initiative’s long-term benefits
Establish independent and facilitated mitigation practice resources
Baseline survey and observation were conducted to assess workers’ hygiene practices. The survey focused on key behaviors such as hand hygiene before meals, after using the washroom, and during factory entry. Additionally, the usage of masks and their devotion to hygiene protocols were observed. A sample of 10% of total workers from each factory was selected to ensure representative data. The findings will serve as a baseline for identifying areas of improvement and guide the development of targeted interventions for promoting better hygiene practices among factory workers.
The health campaign improves the health and well-being of garment sector workers through essential health services and wellness education. It’s made people alert about their health, provide health check-ups, and give medical consultations to garment workers that can help in their general health and happiness in the workplace.

As part of the project interventions, Integral Global and AYAT Education conducted a KAP (Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices) survey at Aman Spinning Mills Ltd to assess workers’ health knowledge, attitudes toward well-being, and health practices. The survey targeted 5 to 10% of the factory population, achieving 7% coverage due to ongoing safety concerns, with 87 participants (44.8% male, 55.2% female) aged 18 to 50, predominantly between 18 and 35 years. Conducted through in-person interviews, the survey included a 62-question questionnaire, taking 35 to 45 minutes to complete, and was administered in Bangla. While the management survey is pending, the pilot phase was supervised by the Project Coordinator and supported by trained field staff.
This Toolkit acts as a standard source of information relevant to the ready-made-garment (RMG) sector of Bangladesh on the issues of RMG factory worker health, wellness, and productivity. The resources presented are intended to serve BGMEA member factories with essential information targeted towards both factory management and workers. We strive to provide accessible resources that foster holistic health and wellness and, in turn, effect greater productivity within the RMG sector. Ultimately, this Toolkit provides and centralizes the resources needed to empower factory workers to prioritize personal health.
The focus of the project is to catalyze independent interest in and adoption of the proven methods of the intervention by textile sector facilities. If successful, the only output that will require ongoing support will be the website that provides resources to factories interested in implementing mitigation practices. This will be sustained independently of JCM and Integral Global through the consulting service set up to offer implementation services to garment facilities that prefer to outsource the work.
